  1. Additional parameters can be defined for each of the different types.
  2. if no type is specified, it is assumed to be a string.
  3. Warning

    Changing the type of the column has to be treated with caution when there is already some data in the grid. For example, if you had a string column and then somehow decided to change the type of the column to 'number' there is a huge chance that the underlying database will not allow that change because it cannot convert existing string values (like 'John') to numbers. If the change of the type is really necessary consider creating a new column instead. In some cases changing the column type is safe. Please check this article.
